Nursing
The sling’s adjustability and versatility makes it easy for you to nurse while wearing your baby. Here are some tips for nursing in our 4 basic positions:
Cradle and Tummy to Tummy Positions- Adjust the height of your baby’s head to match you breast level by tightening or loosening the sling and moving it up or down on your body.
- Shift the sling back and forth to reach one breast or the other.
- Shift baby inside the sling to rotate toward your body on one side or the other.
- Adjust the height of your baby’s head to match you breast level by tightening or loosening the sling and moving it up or down on your body.
- With a larger baby/child on your hip in the sling, you will most likely have to loosen the sling to allow your child’s back to round out a bit for them to reach your breast.
- Once they are at the right level, shift the sling back and forth across your body to reach one breast or the other.
Putting a Big Baby to Sleep
Sometimes when I have a tired toddler in the Hip Carry Position that I want to put to sleep, I like to partially recline her while nursing. I have many times put a baby to sleep in the Hip Carry Position, but sometimes I have to pull out all the stops and nurse/rock her in a lying down position. Because a toddler is too big to completely fit in the sling in the cradle position, it works to loosen the sling and recline your baby with her bottom and upper body in the sling while hold her legs in your arm. When she is finally asleep you can shift her back into the Hip Carry Position.
Discretion
- The fabric in the main part of the sling can be pulled up and over the baby’s head while nursing.
- You can use the fabric in the tail to cover your baby’s head.
- The tail can also be used to cover any exposed skin on your belly, if lifting your shirt to gain access to your breast.
