SIZING
Nato Bello slings are made to fit every parent and every baby in every situation.
One Size
We are committed to making baby wearing easy for you. Our sling will always fit every body in every situation because it is completely adjustable. The adjustability of the ring sling makes it possible to offer our slings in only one size. This eliminates any complicated sizing decisions you would have to make with other mulit-size carriers. For this reason, you can easily purchase our slings before your baby is born or as a gift.
Our slings are cut generously for maximum adjustability and are:
between 81 and 85 inches long
and
between 29 and 30 inches wide
depending on the style – either basic or reversible.
Why One Size?
Many factors affect the way your carrier fits:
- Your weight may change.
- You may share your sling with your different size partner.
- A mom’s breast size will be larger right after birth or when nursing and smaller as baby gets older.
- Your baby will grow and change in height and weight distribution, as he gets taller and loses baby roundness.
- A baby’s bottom size is largely dependent on the type of diaper you use, whether cloth or disposable. Also, the brands of cloth and disposable diapers vary widely in size. Once a child is potty trained and without a diaper, this drastically reduces the bottom size and totally changes how a carrier fits. I wore my daughter for a full 6 months in the sling after she was potty trained.
Different positions require different sling sizing:
- When I am nursing, I wear my baby low in the sling to adjust to my breast height and loose so that he can get move his head and body to the right angle.
- When I am busy or out and about, I wear my baby snug to my body and up high so that I can move fast while hands-free.
Other factors can impact the way your carrier fits:
- Shrinkage from washing
- Bulky clothing such as a coat on parent or child
All of these variables, make an adjustable size carrier a necessity.
Extra Length in the Tail
For parents with smaller shoulders and/or tiny babies, our tail may be extra long. Also, at times you may want the tail out of the way. If this is the case, there are three things that can be done with the excess fabric in the tail:
- Tuck the tail up and under your baby’s bottom (between you and your baby).
- Bring the tail across your baby’s body and use it as an extra cover over the main part of the sling. Tuck the edge of the tail into the top of the sling to anchor it in place.
- Wrap the tail around the rings once or twice. This also gives a little padding to the metal rings in case you baby’s head is near.
To permanently shorten the length of your sling:
